WEEK 12 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS

Phil Steele: 85-25 (77%)

Me:                86-24 (78%)

No. 12 Michigan Wolverines at Penn State Nittany Lions

Noon ET, ABC

Three weeks ago, Michigan needed to make a goal line stand to survive Minnesota on the road. Last week they needed double overtime to put away Indiana on the road. Penn State is better than both of those teams and is 7-0 at home this year. I’m going with an upset here, Penn State by 4.

The Pick: Penn State

No. 15 LSU Tigers at No. 22 Ole Miss Rebels

3:30 PM ET CBS

On the best Saturday of the year this game slides a little bit under the radar. Coincidentally, both teams are coming off of home losses to Arkansas and are looking for a bounce back win. Ole Miss is coming off of a bye and is at home which is why, despite the lower ranking I am going with the Ole Miss Rebels by 7.

The Pick: Ole Miss

No. 24 USC Trojans at No. 23 Oregon Ducks

3:30 PM ET, ESPN

Oregon is on a roll. in the past four games the Ducks have beaten Washington, Arizona State, California, and Stanford. Now coming off of a road win against previously mentioned Stanford, Vernon Adams and the Ducks host USC, who are also on a four game winning streak over Utah, California, Arizona, and Colorado. However in that stretch the two road games USC were faced with were just 3 and 6 point victories respectively. I’ve Oregon by 10 in an upset.

The Pick: Oregon

No. 20 Northwestern Wildcats at No. 25Wisconsin Badgers

3:30 PM ET, Big Ten Network

If you haven’t realized it by now, this Saturday is packed and we are still in the undercard. Wisconsin’s only two losses come to teams ranked in the Top 5, however they haven’t faced anyone else of note. Here comes the test, at home against #20 Northwestern, who is to me one of the most overrated teams in the country. Wisconsin by 13 at home.

The Pick: Wisconsin

No. 10 Baylor Bears at No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys

7:15 PM ET, FOX

This one is a pick’em in Vegas, and for good reason. Both teams are pretty much eliminated from playoff contention with a loss here and there is so much on the line, however Baylor hasn’t been the same Baylor that I said was #1 in the country ever since losing star quarterback Seth Russell. This game is also being played in Stillwater which is a tough place to play, I’ve got Oklahoma State by 10.

The Pick: Oklahoma State

No. 9 Michigan State Spartans at No. 3Ohio State Buckeyes

3:30 PM ET, ABC

Michigan State is 2-0 against the Top 25 this year, Ohio State is playing their first ranked foe of the season. Last week the Spartans bounced back with a win over Maryland after losing to Nebraska a couple weeks back. College GameDay will be on hand and the Columbus crowd will be going crazy for the Buckeyes. The HorseShoe is a tough place to play, I’ve got Ohio State by 8, eliminating Michigan State from the playoff.

The Pick: Ohio State

UCLA Bruins at No. 13 Utah Utes

3:30 PM ET, FOX

Phew! All those big games in one Saturday, now I’ve got a little upset special, I don’t think UCLA will beat Utah on the road, especially since the Utes are coming off of a loss to Arizona, however I do think this is a game to keep an eye on as UCLA will be fired up after their big game against Washington State. I’ve got Utah by 3.

The Pick: Utah

Purdue Boilermakers at No. 5 Iowa Hawkeyes

12:00 ET, ESPN2

Even on a crazy Saturday, Phil Steele always finds a way to pick a blowout. Iowa is undefeated so far this year and closing in on a playoff spot. Purdue on the other hand, hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire. The Boilermakers are 2-8 with losses including Bowling Green and Marshall. Iowa by 30.

The Pick: Iowa

Tennessee Volunteers at Missouri Tigers

7:15 PM ET, ESPN2

And now for our final game this Saturday (I don’t know why there are only nine games, Phil Steele picks the games, I pick the winners.) This will be Gary Pinkel’s final home game as he is stepping down due to medical reasons. The team has rallied behind him and shocked BYU last week, I think the Tigers pick up the win at home and go to 6-5 on the year, clinching a bowl spot for Pinkel.

The Pick: Missouri
