Virginia sophomore golfer Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.) has been named to the VaSID All-State Men’s Golf team. McCarthy earned All-ACC honors as well an All-East Regional spot. He finished 22nd at the NCAA championships.

GENERAL

The University of Virginia Athletics Department was presented with the U.S. Olympic Achievement Award Friday. UVa was one of 39 schools honored by the United States Olympic Committee. Virginia earned the award based on senior swimmer Lauren Perdue’s performance at the 2012 London Olympics. Perdue earned a gold medal as part of the U.S. women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay.
