GIANTS TAKE GAME 1, ROYALS GAME 2 OF WORLD SERIES

Game 1

The Giants had three runs in the top of the first inning and pitcher Madison Bumgarner pitched a shutout into the 7th inning as the Giants rolled over the Royals 7-1, snapping Kansas City’s 29-year streak of never losing a playoff game. “They’ve obviously been on a great run. You don’t get here without that,” Bumgarner said. “I think our team is concentrating on what they need to do, not what the Royals are doing.” The Giants, who could win their third title in five years with a win this series came out looking great. “I can’t say I’m surprised by these guys,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. On the other hand the Royals looked nothing like the underdog story the baseball world has grown so fond of. Bumgarner moved to 3-0 in World Series’ and increased his shutout streak to 21 innings. “I would tell you I wasn’t thinking about it, but you know,” Bumgarner said. “There’s no way around it. You know. There’s so much talk about it. Obviously, a World Series game is not something you tend to forget.”

Game 2

Salvador Perez yelled at Hunter Strickland, Strickland yelled right back and then the benches emptied. Chaos ruled Wednesday night as the Royals tied the series up at 1 game a piece with a 7-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. “We showed them that we have fight in us, and I think they knew that already,” said Billy Butler, whose RBI single in the sixth inning gave the Royals a 3-2 lead. “But we stepped up big there as a team, and that gave us some confidence.”
