#10Oklahoma State (5-1) @ Texas (3-3) – 12PM ET, ABC

I love noon shootouts. This game is going to be fun, Texas has been a pretty big disappointment for me, I don’t see the Longhorns in any danger of missing a bowl game, but I went out on a limb and said that that Tom Herman would reach the Big 12 title game in his first year. The Longhorns are sitting at 2-1 in conference, and need a win here to realistically stay in that discussion. I just don’t think they’ll do it. Even on the road, my computer likes Oklahoma State by 15 here, and I agree with it here, even the Longhorns’ defense won’t be able to hold up against the Oklahoma State offense, I’ll take the ‘Pokes by one less than the CPU, 14.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 41, Texas 27 (Oklahoma State -7 is a BEST BET for Week Eight)
CPU Prediction: OK State by 15

Tennessee (3-3) @ #1Alabama (5-0) – 3:30PM ET, CBS

Uh oh Butch Jones, this isn’t going to be very good. Tennessee’s last three home games have been disasters, from almost losing to UMass team I have at #124 out of 130 to getting mutilated by rival Georgia, to losing in heartbreaking fashion at the gun to South Carolina. This game isn’t even at home, the Vols are going to have to go into Tuscaloosa when the only thing that could save Butch Jones’ job is a win here, and he isn’t going to get it. Alabama has been by far the best team in the country thus far this season, and I don’t see any signs of the Tide slowing down after beating Arkansas by 32. The Tide will win, and they will roll towards their Week 13 matchup with Auburn.

Prediction: Alabama 45, Tennessee 10
CPU Prediction: Alabama by 25

#9Oklahoma (5-1) @ Kansas State (3-3) – 4PM ET, Fox

Both teams NEED this win. Kansas State, a preseason top 25 team, might need it to make a bowl. The Wildcats are 3-3, but those three wins are against Charlotte, Baylor, and Central Arkansas, who are a combined 0-12 vs the FBS. Oklahoma on the other hand, has much loftier goals. I like this Sooners team more than most, I’ve got them at #6 in the country right now, I have the only team the lost to, Iowa State, ranked, and Oklahoma’s road win over Ohio State still is the best of any in the country. K State will come off like a team desperate to salvage this 3-3 start, and I have the silver and purple leading at halftime, but Lincoln Riley’s squad will remain cool, and OU will grind out a win.

Prediction: Oklahoma 38, Kansas State 30
CPU Prediction: Oklahoma by 19

#11USC (6-1) @ #13Notre Dame (5-1) – 7:30PM ET, NBC

Now we are into the meat and potatoes of Week Eight. This is pretty much a playoff elimination game, loser leaves contention, winner moves into the top ten. I like Notre Dame a little more than the polls, I like USC a little less than the polls, and this game is in South Bend. I’m taking Notre Dame. The Irish got written off by everybody after the loss to Georgia, who has climbed to the #3 team in the country. I kept Notre Dame in my top 20 the whole time, and have had them in my top 15 even when they were just starting to crawl back into the AP poll. On the other hand, USC has struggled with lesser teams like Cal and Western Michigan, heck, last week against Utah would’ve gone to overtime had Utah not gone for two with less than a minute left. I see the Irish picking up a big win here, with plenty of top 25 tests still on the schedule, Notre Dame better be careful not to look ahead here.

Prediction: Notre Dame 35, USC 31
CPU Prediction: Notre Dame by 7

#19Michigan (5-1) @ #2Penn State (6-0) – 7:30PM ET, ABC

Penn State rolls into this game, #2 in the country, College Gameday in town, against a Michigan team that has struggled pretty much the whole season since the dominating opener against Florida, this could be an interesting trap game. I’m not falling for it though. Michigan’s defense is incredible, but the offense has not been able to get anything going, and while I think they will be able to contain Saquon Barkley for a little while, the Penn State back will eventually find a way to break through, and even if he doesn’t, Michigan leaves lots of guys in one-on-one coverage without help, so the Nittany Lions always have the Trace McSorley deep ball to fall back on. This will be low scoring, PSU’s defense doesn’t get enough credit, but at the end of the day, Penn State will roll into Columbus next week 7-0.
