Josh Beckett threw the first no-no of is career today against a very good Phillies lineup. Beckett threw 128 pitches, walked 3 and struck out six in the 6-0 win. Beckett rang up Chase Utley on a called strike 3 to end the game and secure the no-hitter. Beckett mixed his fast ball with a dirty curve that kept batters guessing. “It was awesome. You think about it pretty much from the fourth on. I’m not one of those guys that carried a lot of no-hitters deep into games,” he said. Last July, Beckett had a rib removed in thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.
