49ERS BLOW LEAD, FALL TO CHARGERS IN OT

Down 21 at halftime Philip Rivers wasn’t sure if his San Diego Chargers had a chance to come back, on the road at Levi Stadium against the 49ers, but he knew they had too, their playoff hopes depended on it. Rivers threw for 356 yards and 4 touchdowns and led his team down the field in overtime before Nick Novak booted through a 40 yard field goal to give San Diego a 38-35 win. “Obviously, an unbelievable finish,” coach Mike McCoy said. “We had about as bad a first half as we could possibly play. … You saw a lot of emotion on the sideline throughout that second half — the excitement, the energy, the way we play football.”
